The 12 times table
Twelve shows up everywhere: a dozen eggs, 12 months in a year, 12 hours on a clock and 12 inches in a foot.

How to learn the 12s
Each line means “12 groups of”. So 12 × 4 = 48 means four groups of 12 make 48. Every answer is just 12 more than the one before: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60…
The highlighted facts, 12 × 7 = 84, 12 × 8 = 96, 12 × 9 = 108 and 12 × 12 = 144, are the ones learners usually find hardest. The tips below give you a way into each one.

In real life
There are 12 inches in a foot, so 3 feet are 12 × 3 = 36 inches — one yard.
Three ways to make the 12s easy
Ten plus two
Split 12 into 10 and 2. Do both and add.
12 × 7 = 70 + 14 = 84Double the 6s
12 is 6 doubled, so double the 6s answer.
6 × 8 = 48 → 12 × 8 = 96Know 12 × 12
12 × 12 = 144 — a “gross”. It’s the biggest fact on most school charts.

Last digits of 12 × 1 to 12 × 10:
The first four look like a code. 12, 24, 36, 48: the first digit counts 1, 2, 3, 4 and the second digit is double the first.
Endings 2, 4, 6, 8, 0. The last digits repeat like the 2s: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72…

The matching division facts
Every multiplication fact gives you a division fact for free. If 12 × 7 = 84, then 84 ÷ 12 = 7.
